Lean six sigma belts defined3/2/2024 ![]() Lean Six Sigma emphasizes understanding customer needs and expectations. Let’s have a look at how LSS aligns with product management practices and supports efficient product development: Though Lean Six Sigma’s originated in the manufacturing industry, its principles and methodologies have particular relevance to product management in the software/tech industry. Lean Six Sigma principles for product managers Since then, it has been widely adopted across various industries worldwide, leading to significant improvements in productivity, customer satisfaction, and cost savings. When combined, these two methodologies form Lean Six Sigma, which gained popularity in the late 1990s. Motorola aimed to improve product quality by reducing defects and variability using a data-driven approach with statistical tools. The term “Six Sigma” refers to a statistical concept that measures process variation. Six Sigma was developed by Motorola in the 1980s as a contrast to Lean manufacturing. Originating in Japan in the 1950s and 1960s primarily through the Toyota Production System (TPS), Lean manufacturing focuses on identifying and eliminating waste, continuous improvement, respect for people, and creating value for customers. LSS comprises two main components: Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma. ![]() It helps streamline operations, minimize defects, and deliver superior customer value. Lean Six Sigma is a powerful methodology that aids in optimizing processes, reducing waste, and enhancing efficiency by providing a comprehensive approach to process improvement. We’ll also show you how you can get certified and look at examples of companies that have successfully implemented LSS principles. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore what Lean Six Sigma is, its guiding principles, and the value it can bring to your organization. ![]() If this scenario sounds familiar, it might be time to consider Lean Six Sigma practices. It’s frustrating and inefficient - just like many business processes can be. Ever had one of those days? You oversleep, hit traffic, arrive at work to a slew of meetings, and realize you forgot your lunch. For ipod instal Path Finder3/2/2024 ![]() As I mentioned before, I was able to sync that iPod with no issues to Musicbee, without using any driver plugin(the serial number and name would show up in MB, and the iPod would show up in file explorer as an iPod, not a hard drive. ![]() On a second, more depressing note, I recently had to replace the logic board on my iPod video 5.5 due to a battery issue, and I replaced it with an identical board. The thing that confuses me the most about this is that for my iPod Video 5.5, I was able to convert on-the-fly with no issue, and that was without the plugin. I have a few updates(and mostly bad news) surrounding this problem now.Īs far as the plugin, I've tried running iTunes and Musicbee in compatibility mode, admin mode, and uninstalling iTunes. That will definitely speed up the sync on a large library. Maybe try running it in administrator mode, that might get past a permissions issue.Įdit: Also its a good idea to exclude antivirus.Ĭ:\Program Files(x86)\itunes (might be C:\Program Files\iTunes for the 64 bit version)Īnd the folder where your music is stored. There is nothing in the code that could be messing that part up and it's working for me so best guess is some kind of permission issue or settings problem that is preventing MB from creating the converted file.Īre you using the portable version of MB? That error means the filename MB is returning doesn't exist. If it doesn't match, MB just returns the same filename, if it does match, MB converts the file to the temp folder I got you to check earlier and returns the filename of the converted file. If everything is on SSD's you will probably see a much better result.Įach file is sent to MusicBee to see if it meets any of the conversion criteria. 22 minutes for that many songs is more realistic sync time if you store your tracks on a mechanical drive or network drive. I'm just going to assume it's a quirk with iTunes.Īnyway, all this overly long post is trying to say is, ignore my previous post where I said 36,000 songs took 8 minutes. If I restart MusicBee and iTunes without restarting windows it still performs the sync quickly so it's windows caching that is speeding it up, not something with either program. If I restart the PC and do a full sync it takes 22 minutes again and thrashes the HDD. (I assume because whatever info it's accessing got cached by windows in the first sync.) I do another full sync straight after, no HDD activity occurs and the sync takes less than 10 min. I do a full sync, HDD gets thrashed and it takes about 22 minutes for 36,000 songs. So here is what happens when I do a sync and no sync changes need to happen, it's just going through the database to check if something needs to be synced. If the files have previously been synced the HDD shouldn't need to be accessed at all if metadata refresh is disabled. I'm not sure why as technically the sync process is just sharing information between the MB database and the iTunes database (both stored on NVME C: drive). Disabling metadata refresh certainly makes it faster but the mechanical drive where my music is stored still gets thrashed during the sync but only the first time. No matter what I do, I can't stop the sync process from accessing the actual media files (track files). Just a note about some of the estimates I have listed previously for sync times, I may have been a bit optimistic due to file caching (I think). Just tick the delete files option, untick the "confirm deletion" box then untick the deletes option again. This version will throw an error if you have "delete files that are not on the auto-sync list from the device" unticked but the "confirm deletion" box is ticked, like in the picture below. End of the day it's not a huge deal, the plugin still works fine, it's just a display issue. The logic above will assume 50 tracks need to be deleted instead of the required 150. User unticks the playlist of 150 tracks and ticks another playlist of 100 completely different tracks. Tracks in itunes - 200 made up of 2 playlists of 50 tracks and 150 tracks. Something like the following would trigger it. In certain situations this logic will fall over and the progress bar will go over 100%. It's not perfect but it's the best I can do without a major rewrite (I'm sure this time). If tracks to be deleted is less than zero it's assumed to be zero. ![]() The basic logic is No of Tracks in iTunes - Tracks to be synced = Tracks to be deleted. The best I can do is make an assumption on the number of deletes based on the number of tracks to be synced and the number of tracks in iTunes. The counts displayed will now be more accurate (not include playlists) and deletes are handled a little better but still not perfect. – Relatively expensive compared to other optionsĭownload Link: Download Transmit 4. – Includes features like dual-pane view and batch file renaming It boasts a clean and intuitive interface, making it a favorite among professionals and developers. When new fonts with these attributes are added to the library, they also appear in the Smart Set.Įxtensis also rethought its approach to managing fonts in the Mac OS X system font folders. For example, you could define a Smart Set to include all fonts from one particular foundry, or fonts that are tagged with a particular client’s name, or any other combination of attributes. IPhoto ( ), and now it includes Smart Sets that automatically update as you add new fonts to your library. It’s a helpful way to compare similar fonts, or find just the right ampersand or other special character, in any language.įusion 2’s new interface is similar to that of When you find a glyph you want, double-click it to see a larger version, then select a different font to see the same glyph in the new font. Fusion’s Glyph View palette lets you explore both active and inactive fonts. QuarkXPress ( ) and Adobe’s Creative Suite design applications have Glyphs palettes, and Mac OS X has a Character palette, they can show only active fonts. This is an entirely new way to interact with fonts. When you find one combination you like, you can activate that font directly from its floating preview. These previews can be used with any document or application, and if you change the characters, fonts, or sizes in the Suitcase window, the floating previews update as well. Then you can drag type samples off of the Suitcase window and float them over your page layouts to see how they would look. You can preview any selection of fonts, whether active or not, in several different sample layouts, or by typing in a line of your own text. The result is increased speed and responsiveness-especially for adding and auto-activating fonts-and several clever new features that encourage typographical experimentation. ![]() The program has been entirely rewritten using code borrowed from Extensis’ Suitcase Fusion, a professional font-management utility designed for individual users, has seen a giant upgrade with the release of version 2. Dark of night book cover3/2/2024 ![]() ![]() While it’s clear that the author writes from her own experience with being biracial, the discrimination against the protagonist doesn’t have a clear reason that makes sense within this fantasy world. Why are Reapers only white people? Why is having black hair only associated with Asians? Why does it seem like the main character is the *only* mixed Reaper to ever exist in this book, considering that Reapers live for centuries of years and would have surely reproduced with different races by now? And why is being mixed looked down upon in this society? (There was a throwaway line about how Reapers are more archaic *because* they have lived for so long, but this still feels like a stretch.) The world-building feels incomplete and not fully thought out, especially when it deals with race. I was eager to rate this 4 stars, but as I kept reading, I found too many issues that dropped it down to 3. Seeing the different yokai that the protagonist has to face throughout the book was fun as well! And though the stories read as tinged with sadness, as one of his protagonists, Little Red, says in the story from which the collection takes its title: ‘What’s wrong with sad stories? The world is always sad’.Really enjoyed the descriptive writing, dark atmosphere, and concept of Reapers, especially with how they can "manipulate" time and all the imagery that comes with using those powers. We are invited to feel what the characters in these stories do. Whenever we are taken to a dark place, Birch’s protagonists find support in each other, their families, their neighbourhoods. What brings these disparate characters and stories together is the focus on the role of community and family in our lives. Here are a few that resonated with me: In ‘Starman’ we follow two teenagers and their clumsy first attempts at courtship, and see how it doesn’t take much more than a shared interest in music to establish a strong connection in ‘Bobby Moses’ we witness an Aboriginal man returning to his people’s Country, and the suspicion with which he and the colonial residents of the land regard each other in ‘Afterlife’ we join a brother and a sister in clearing out their deceased older brother’s flat, while learning of his importance to his community. ![]() The stories in this collection inhabit many different lives. At the end of the day, these stories teach us that despite where we are, the present needn’t determine the future.Īt the end of the day, these stories teach us that despite where we are, the present needn’t determine the future. And for every downtrodden, beaten down protagonist, Birch offers some measure of hope. They present abuse and violence for what they are, but in equal measure, they also show that the solution to these things require human connection and care. ![]() And to be fair, the stories don’t shy away from ugly topics. Birch shows precisely the depth and poetry in the lives of the downtrodden that Pekar wanted to write about.īirch’s version of realism gives voice to those who don’t have much and shows beauty where an outside observer might find it lacking. The stories in Dark as Last Night are those of people often invisible to mainstream eyes. I’m not sure if Birch ever read Pekar, but I feel he would agree with Pekar’s literary motto. Normal people’s lives, Pekar says, are as full of beauty, poetry, passion, and life as those of heroes. Reading this set of stories prompted me to remember the American writer Harvey Pekar, who in one of his semi-autobiographical American Splendor comic books confesses to a friend that he wishes to tell everyday people’s stories. Tony Birch’s latest book, Dark as Last Night, is a wide-ranging collection of short stories set across Australian neighbourhoods, the outback, and inside homes both welcoming and tragic. Brain gym exercises for kids pdf3/2/2024 People with varied needs enjoy daily use of the Brain Gym 26 for integrating intention and function during breaks and before work, study, or sports. Students experience three primary kinds of movement and the associated skills: sensorimotor coordination (laterality-the two-sidedness fundamental to reading, writing, listening, or speaking) stability (centering-merging one’s center of mass and center of balance, being able to self-calm) and locomotion (moving from place to place with optimal muscle length for focus and ease). The Edu-K work meets learners where they are, supporting their current abilities while identifying and addressing those they have not yet integrated into function. Use of the 26 cultivates multisensory learning, supporting the development of healthy visual, auditory, and kinesthetic skills and improved attention and memory. When people of all ages can look, listen, and move easily and without stress, they are curious to use their senses to interact with the world around them. This is quite different from learning that inhibits the sensory modalities through tension and strain. One Edu-K premise is the inherent pleasure of the learning experience: that of using the hands, senses, and whole body to explore new ideas. The original movements are now the 26 Brain Gym® activities (called “the 26” for short) – part of the broad Brain Gym curriculum for self-initiated learning. Dennison, he developed a field of learning known as Educational Kinesiology (Edu-K). He created a technique (Dennison Laterality Repatterning) to make these movements even more universally effective. He anticipated our modern understanding of the brain by demonstrating how specific movements for eye-teaming, hand-eye coordination, and whole-body awareness bring swift improvements in reading, writing, understanding, and comprehension in students of all ages. ![]() ![]() Dennison began to explain learning as incremental changes in attention behavior and function.
